Windows & Doors Before & After in Fort Lauderdale, FL
Photos don’t lie. A spec sheet can tell you a window’s U-factor or a door’s wind rating, but it can’t show you what late-afternoon light looks like streaming through clean, properly seated glass. West light, we call it. The payoff of a replacement done right is something you see and feel every day. Here’s a look at the work we’ve done around Fort Lauderdale, from Coral Ridge to Victoria Park, with the before-and-after story behind each one.
Recent Transformations
Coastal Condo: Impact Window Replacement in Galt Ocean Mile
Before
AfterThe original single-pane aluminum frames had been in place since the building went up in the late 1970s. Salt air had eaten the tracks, two windows wouldn’t lock, and the owner was tired of hearing A1A traffic like it was in the living room. We pulled the old frames and installed impact-rated PGT windows with low-e glass (a thin coating that reflects heat back into the room in winter and out in summer). The difference in both noise and cooling cost was immediate, and the new windows meet current Florida building code for wind-borne debris zones.
1950s Ranch: Whole-House Window Replacement in Poinsettia Heights
Before
AfterThis house still had its original jalousie windows, which in Fort Lauderdale means two things: they look charming, and they leak air like a screen door. The homeowner’s summer electric bills were running north of $400 a month. We replaced every window with energy-efficient ECO Window Systems double-hung units, trimming out each opening to match the home’s mid-century profile. The house finally holds temperature, and you can stand next to a closed window without feeling a draft.
French Door Failure: Door Installation in Rio Vista
Before
AfterThe old French doors were beautiful and completely done. Wood rot at the threshold, fogged glass in both doors, and a gap at the top you could see daylight through. We installed a Therma-Tru fiberglass door system with the same divided-light look the homeowner loved, but with a rot-proof frame and energy-rated glass. The opening is square again, the lock actually engages, and the south-facing room no longer cooks in the afternoon.
Misted Glass: Sliding Door Replacement in Sailboat Bend

A failed seal between the panes had turned a perfectly good view of the New River into a permanently foggy one. Sliding door glass that fogs means the insulating gas is gone and the door is doing nothing for your energy bill. We replaced the sliding unit with an impact-rated CGI door matched to the existing frame opening. The glass is clear, the rollers glide, and the door is rated to take a serious storm without flinching.
Cracked Frame: Casement Window Replacement in Imperial Point

The crack started small, a hairline along the lower corner, probably from years of the house settling on reclaimed land. By the time we saw it, the frame had shifted enough that the crank mechanism was binding. We replaced the casement with a CWS unit sized to the original opening and squared the rough frame before setting it. The window now opens with two fingers and shuts with a tight, positive seal.
Front Door First Impression: Entry Door Installation in Croissant Park

The front door is the first thing you touch when you come home, and this one had warped enough that the deadbolt missed the strike plate. It was also letting a visible gap of daylight in around the weatherstripping. We hung a new Therma-Tru entry door with a composite frame that won’t absorb South Florida humidity and a finish rated for direct sun exposure. The door swings clean, locks solid, and the house looks finished from the curb again.
